Our Yachting Australia qualified instructors will have you out on the water skippering and/or crewing in the 8 week 'Get into small boat sailing' (GISBS) course.

Course overview and goals:
• YA recognized GISBS course
• YA GISBS Log Books are issued at the successful completion of the course
• The course provides basic theory and practical skills to sail a dinghy competently in moderate conditions.
• Supervision is provided by Yachting Australia qualified training instructors.
• Training is undertake in two man 'Pacer' and 'Mirror' dinghies
• Club boats are provided
• Buoyancy vests are provided
• Handouts and training notes are supplied

Suitable clothing:
Bathers and warm woollen clothing (old tracksuit, windcheaters) preferably a plastic or waterproof windbreak jacket. Sailing boots, wetsuit boots or runners. No thongs or bare feet. Change of clothing is a must for every training session. A bottle of water is also recommended.

Club owned boats will be available for lease to Club members who have participated in the previous season's GISBS (Get Into Small Boat Sailing) Class. The Committee are endeavoring to encourage and help new members to get on the water and race before they buy their own boat. Cost and conditions are laid out below.
COST
$150.00 for half season for a Club Boat
Season split Pre Christmas and Post Christmas
PLUS…
$200.00 DAMAGE BOND (refundable at season's end if boat is undamaged)
CONDITIONS
- Boats must be raced in at least 60% of races during the summer season.
- Boats will be leased to a member for one season only. A second lease can be taken if previous GISBS do not take up the option to lease.
- Lessees must have participated in the AYC Training Course during the previous season.
- Applicants for the lease of a Mirror or Pacer must do so as a Skipper/Crew combination with two names on the form. Both people will be responsible for the boat. In the case of a change of Skipper and Crew, a new application with an extra fee for the replacement person, must be made.
- The boats are to be maintained in a responsible manner, as if they were the lessee's own. Failure to take proper care of a boat will result in the Training Committee taking back the boat (without a refund), and leasing to another member.
- Boats will be used by the beginners class on Saturday morning. Any damage to boats occurring during this time MUST be reported to the Training Officer by the Lessees before further use.
